It was necessary because of the nature of the terrain in this case to commission a feasibility study before new building could be undertaken.
A meeting of representatives of the vocational education committee with officials of my Department was recently held with a view to expediting the completion of this study.
Approval to proceed with the next stage of the planning process will be given as soon as the study has been satisfactorily completed by the VEC. It had been expected that building work could commence in 1976.

The County Mayo Vocational Education Committee are purchasing a site for a new vocational school at Castlebar. When a contract has been entered into, planning of the building will commence. It is not possible at this stage to say when the building work will begin.
