Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Approach Roadway.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the planning of a new approach road to Dublin city from the west of Ireland is proceeding; and if he will make a statement in the matter.

As I have previously informed the Deputy, the planning of a new western approach road to Dublin city is primarily a matter for the local authorities concerned. The reviews which I have requested of the Road Needs Study by An Foras Forbartha and of the recommendations of the Dublin Transportation Study by the Dublin City and County Manager, are relevant to any such proposals of the local authorities concerned. I do not propose to comment further pending

Can I take it that there are no proposals submitted by the outcome of those reviews. any of the county councils in connection with the approach road?

Would the Minister not think it absolutely necessary that they should be asked to submit proposals?

They have been. With regard to Dublin County Council there are a number of compulsory purchase orders being prepared which must be required even if it is only to improve the road and until they are prepared and the investigations are carried out, including a public inquiry, there is nothing that I or my Department can do about it.

Could the Minister say who are the local authorities concerned in his view?

Dublin county, Meath, Kildare, and Dublin Corporation to a certain extent.

Dublin County Council, Kildare County Council and Meath County Council?
