Written Answers. - Town Gas Subsidy.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the annual cost to the Exchequer of (a) the subsidy on town gas payable to the Dublin Gas Company and (b) the subsidy on town gas from all other undertakings throughout the country as outlined in his statement of 10th August, 1977.

Following the announcement on 10th August, 1977, of the extension of the increased subsidy to provincial gas undertakings, the annual cost to the Exchequer is estimated at £6.2 million for the Dublin Gas Company and £1.6 million for all other undertakings.
