The number of price increases which, arising from recommendations by the National Prices Commission, were accepted by me in the period from my assuming office on 5th July, 1977, to 7th October, 1977, was 124. Applications for price increases may include a number of related products or varieties of a product—for example, biscuits—and for that reason it would not be possible to say how many separate items were involved.
