Vol. 301 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Allowance.

485.

asked the Minister for Health the reasons for the delay in granting a disabled person's allowance to a person (name supplied) in Dublin; and if he will ensure that this case is investigated and expedited.

I have made inquiries from the Eastern Health Board regarding the case referred to by the Deputy. It does not seem that there was delay in dealing with the case. The application was made on 14th October, 1977. Following a report from the community welfare officer as to eligibility on income grounds, arrangements were made for medical examination with a view to confirming eligibility on medical grounds. This examination took place on 3rd November, 1977. The report of the examining officer will be made available to the board without delay. If eligibility for payment of the allowance is confirmed, it will be paid from the date on which the completed application form was received by the board.
