Vol. 303 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Garda Strength.

300.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will arrange to have the approved strength of the Garda Síochána at Kill of the Grange Station, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, increased to enable the force to give greater attention to recent complaints of vandalism in this district.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the current allocation of gardaí to Kill of the Grange station is the maximum that can be provided at present having regard to overall demands on Garda resources. The police needs of the area will, however, be further considered according as the additional manpower at present being recruited becomes available for assignment to the various centres.

As regards the incidence of vandalism in the area, the Garda say that the introduction of increased patrols in recent weeks has resulted in an improvement in the situation and it is hoped that this trend will continue.
