No such general legislation exists.
However, special regulations for the safety, health and welfare of workers who may be exposed to particular risks, are provided for in various sections of the Factories Act, 1955 and the Mines and Quarries Act, 1965.
Provision for medical supervision of the workers concerned is normally included in such special regulations. Section 20 of the Factories Act, 1955, empowers the making of special regulations for medical supervision of persons who are, or are about to be, employed in work which may cause risk or injury to their health. Regulations to the same effect are made under the Mines and Quarries Act, 1965.
