Vol. 304 No. 10

Written Answers. - Kildare Main Drainage Scheme.

346.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he received from Kildare County Council the proposed Kildare town main drainage scheme; the areas, the number of existing houses, and the ultimate maximum number of houses to be served by the scheme; if he has addressed any queries to the council in relation to the proposal; if so, what queries; and when he expects to approve the proposal.

Preliminary proposals for this scheme were received in my Department on 24 January 1978 and are under examination. The scheme consists of the extension of the sewerage system at Newtown to serve some 12 premises initially and 60 ultimately together with the improvement of the sewage treatment works to cater for a population of 7,000 as well as providing for future industrial development. No queries have been raised with the local authority and I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to convey a decision to them on the proposals.
