My Department have been notified under the Redundancy Payments Acts and the Protection of Employment Act of 227 prospective redundancies in the organisation in question.
I am aware that certain measures were taken in the past in an effort to maintain employment. A meeting between a trade union representing a number of the workers involved and senior officers of my Department has now been arranged to discuss the present situation.
