Written Answers. - New Secondary Schools.

468.

asked the Minister for Education the criteria which must be met by persons seeking to open new secondary schools in respect of (a) enrolment; (b) catchment area; and (c) continuity, before the teachers in such a school will be entitled to incremental salary from his Department.

The general regulations for the recognition of secondary schools and the additional regulations for the recognition of new schools are set out in sections II and III of the Rules and Programme for Secondary Schools, which is published annually and placed on sale at the Government Publications Sale Office, GPO Arcade, Dublin 1, and which is also available in the Oireachtas Library.

Teachers are within the incremental salary in accordance with the provisions of the rules for the payment of incremental salary as from the date from which the school is given provisional recognition in accordance with the rules for secondary schools.
