The 1978 figures relate to factories actually in production. The 1958 and 1968 figures may include a number of factories then holding licences but not actually in production.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state, in respect of the meat exporters' licences issued under section 13 of the Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Act, 1930, the number which relate to beef, pork, mutton, horseflesh, goat-flesh and other meat.

: The number of licences issued to meat exporters under section 13 of the Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Act, 1930, can vary at any given time depending on closures, new premises opening and so on. The following is a breakdown of the numbers of export licences held at present:

asked the Minister for Agriculture if any meat exporters' licences or bacon curers' licences have been revoked by him in the past ten years; and if so, why.

: In accordance with section 25 of the Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Act, 1930, the normal practice is to cancel a meat export licence when a premises closes, or there is a change of ownership and so on. In the past ten years a small number of meat export licences have not been renewed where standards at a premises were unsatisfactory.
