With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 266 and 273 together.
A joint statement was issued this morning, on behalf of the four associations representing the ranks from garda to chief superintendent and on my behalf. That statement indicated that certain proposals had been put to the associations and accepted by them in principle. The statement further indicated that the proposals must at this point be confidential. It will be clear therefore that I can make no further comment at this stage.
