Vol. 309 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sewerage Schemes.

393.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which proposals were received in his Department from Kerry County Council to extend the sewerage scheme to Tonbwee, Castleisland; and the present position regarding the proposals.

There are no current proposals before my Department for the provision of public sewerage facilities at Tonbwee but I understand that the local authority are having plans prepared for extension of the Castleisland sewerage which might cater for the area.

394.

asked the Minister for the Environment when finance will be allocated to Westmeath County Council for the provision of a sewerage scheme at Tyrrellspass, Mullingar, County Westmeath.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such schemes in or getting to construction at the present time. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to approve this scheme, contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department. It is only when the scheme has been fully approved that the question of finance for its construction will arise.
