asked the Minister for Finance the total sums made available for drainage and land reclamation schemes from (1) the EEC and (2) central funds, in 1977 and 1978.

The gross amounts made or to be made available in the years in question are given in the tabular statements hereunder. The amounts shown in respect of the EEC funds are refunds due or to become due from the EEC in respect of expenditure in the relevant year.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is proposed to commence drainage schemes for (a) the Suir valley in south Tipperary, and (b) the Mulcaire valley in east Limerick and north Tipperary.

The preparation of schemes for both the Suir and the Mulcaire catchments is in hands but a considerable amount of work remains to be done before the schemes can be formulated.
