The only reliable information on areas of flood damaged land available in any office relates to catchments which have been surveyed in connection with the formulation of arterial drainage schemes.
On completion of the Boyne and Maigue schemes, now in progress, it is estimated, in the absence of survey information, that about 500,000 acres of damaged land will remain to be dealt with in the remaining listed catchments.
