Vol. 310 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Contraceptive Preparations.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance the quantity and value of anovulent pills imported last year, and if the Revenue Commissioners are satisfied that none of these contraceptive preparations is being imported for sale contrary to section 17 (1) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1935.

Details of the quantity and value of anovulent pills being imported are not available because such pills are classified under headings of the Customs Tariff which include other medicaments. Separate records relating to such pills are not maintained. The anovulent pills which have been imported have legitimate medical uses and are not regarded as falling within the scope of the prohibition in section 17 (1) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1935.
