The possibility of phased retirement as a method of releasing jobs including, the measures necessary to protect the pension rights of those involved was raised in the recent Green Paper "Development for Full Employment". This is one of the issues on which the views of interested groups have been sought. Until there is some agreement on the outlines of a scheme of phased retirement it is not possible to indicate the measures necessary to safeguard pension rights.
