Vol. 311 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hairdressers' JLC.

258.

asked the Minister for Labour the actions, if any, taken by his Department against any persons in the Cork county borough area for violations of the terms of the Joint Labour Committee for Hairdressers since the establishment of the committee in 1977.

The Joint Labour Committee for Hairdressing in Cork county borough was established on 8 July 1977. The first Employment Regulation Order made by the committee fixing the statutory remuneration and regulating the conditions of employment of workers in the hairdressing trade in the Cork county borough came into effect on 24 April 1978.

There are approximately 110 premises coming within the scope of this order. All premises have been visited by inspectors of my Department since the order came into effect and the employers were made aware of their statutory obligations under this new order.

No legal proceedings have yet been initiated against any of the employers visited.
