The number of persons in receipt of weekly redundancy payments averaged 4,215, 3,309 and 2,750 weekly in 1976, 1977 and 1978 respectively. The average weekly payment in those years was £16.74, £14.85 and £15.24 respectively.
The discontinuance of weekly payments will not affect the Exchequer.
