Vol. 311 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Cork School.

268.

asked the Minister for Education the steps that have been taken to implement the report regarding the urgent repairs which are needed to Union Hall national school, County Cork.

A proposal to have an extensive scheme of improvements executed at the existing Union Hall national school was being considered by this Department in consultation with the Office of Public Works, but it has now been decided that the proper course of action would be to replace the school by a new building on a new site. Arrangements to this end have been initiated.

In the meantime, grants will be sanctioned towards the cost of such works as may be deemed essential to bring conditions in the old building to a reasonably satisfactory standard. The extent of the works considered necessary is being examined at present in consultation with the Office of Public Works and the Rev. Chairman of the Board of Management will be written to on the matter as soon as possible.
