asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the conditions which the Cultural Relations Committee has advised should be fulfilled before grants-in-aid are paid to Irish dance groups participating in foreign folk festivals.
The quality of the groups must be such as will enhance the country's image abroad. The Committee's recommendations are based on their general impressions of the standards of performance and dress of different groups and on the status of the festival concerned.
