Vol. 312 No. 2

Written Answers. - Kerry Nurses Tax Refunds.

173.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will investigate the delay on the part of the income tax authorities, in making payment of a refund of income tax to a number of retired psychiatric nurses (details supplied) in Country Kerry and if he is satisfied that the delay was justified.

The Revenue Commissioners have informed me that there were untoward delays, which they greatly regret, in dealing with the repayment claims in question. The delays were partly due to damage to relevant papers caused by flooding of the rooms in which they were kept, and partly to misfiling. Only one of the cases still remains to be disposed of and the repayment in that case will be made in the very near future.
