asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that purchasers of NBA houses at Ballyboe/Glencar, County Donegal cannot avail of £1,000 grant or loans from the county council and that they were officially advised to the contrary when purchasing their homes; in view of the hardship caused by this misrepresentation if he will investigate and expedite the matter as soon as possible.

As regards grants, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 1 of 25 May 1978 which set out the position in regard to new house grants. The provision of loans for houses by Donegal County Council is a matter for the council to decide in the first instance. I understand from the National Building Agency that no assurance was given by them to purchasers of these houses that loans from the county council would be available; and that loans were available from the agency itself to approved purchasers of these houses.
