Vol. 316 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Waterford Water Schemes.

170.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to sanction the necessary moneys for the provision of a marine outfall pipe and diffuser, for the Dungarvan Urban Council's scheme at Stoke's Field, Abbeyside, County Waterford.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the overall amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such projects in progress or getting to construction at the present time. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority on this scheme contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.

The question of finance will not arise until the scheme has been fully approved.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding the proposed group water scheme for the Killossera area, Dungarvan, County Waterford.

The design of this scheme has been approved by Waterford County Council subject to the use of increased pipe sizes. My Department are examining the council's proposals and the financing of the additional cost involved in providing the increased pipe sizes. I hope to be in a position to convey a decision thereon shortly.
