Vol. 316 No. 8

Written Answers. - Resources Policy.

429.

asked the Minister for Economic Planning and Development if he will outline his views on the implications of the recent publication Irish Resources and Land Use, in particular the conclusion that there is now a cogent case for a new, effective, integrated resources policy and the proposals, if any, he has in this connection.

The Government's policy on national resources has been set out and related to the broader context of economic and social development in the various plans published by the Government since coming to office. The publication to which the Deputy refers constitutes, I believe, a valuable contribution to thinking on the use of our resources and is being examined in my Department as part of the continuous process of reassessing policy in the area. Any changes in policy that may be found desirable will be provided for in future planning documents.
