Vol. 316 No. 9

Written Answers. - Meath Unemployment Benefit Payment.

391.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when unemployment benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 6 July 1979. He was not entitled to payment as his 1978 insurance card, on which entitlement to benefit depended, had not been received in my Department. On 11 October 1979 he changed his claim to one for occupational injury benefit. Certain inquiries are necessary before a decision can be given as to his entitlement to this benefit. In the meantime, following inquiries in relation to the nonreceipt of the 1978 insurance card, it has been accepted that he was engaged in insurable employment and he has been credited with contributions which qualify him for payment. Accordingly, his claim has been admitted and a cheque in payment of disability benefit from July 1979, less supplementary welfare allowances paid, has been issued. The person's entitlement to pay-related benefit is being examined and any payment due will be made as soon as possible.
