A widow's non-contributory pension at a reduced rate was in payment to the person concerned up to 19 July 1979. Following reinvestigation it transpired that her means had increased substantially since the date of the last assessment in her case. Payment of pension was terminated as the means exceeded the statutory limit.
Representations made by the Deputy were accepted as an appeal on behalf of the widow. The appeals officer has requested that further inquiries be made regarding the assessment of means. These inquiries are being expedited and it is hoped to have a decision available from the appeals officer shortly.
