Sanction for the payment of an increase of £3.50 per week, retrospective to 1 March 1978, to caretakers and attendants, with a pro-rata increase for parttime cleaners, was conveyed to County Tipperary (SR) VEC by my Department on 8 February 1980. In regard to the question of a productivity agreement, sanction for the payment of an increase of £1.50 per week with effect from a current date was given at the same time. It was not considered that retrospective effect could be given to an increase in pay directly related to the increase in productivity.
