Vol. 319 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Test for Ex-Soldiers.

117.

asked the Minister for the Environment if an Army driver is required to undergo a driving test to obtain a driving licence from a local authority on leaving the Army at the end of his service or on resignation.

A person applying for a driving licence is obliged to pass a driving test in respect of the particular vehicle class, subject to the provisions of the relevant statutory regulations under the Road Traffic Acts.

Special arrangements are in operation to facilitate Army personnel in this regard, through the provision of appropriate vehicles and group appointments for test.
