Vol. 319 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork National School.

178.

andMr. P. Barry asked the Minister for Education if the national school at Blackpool, Cork, has been closed; if so, the amount of notice given to parents concerned; if the closure is permanent; if not, when it is proposed to reopen the school, the arrangements made to transfer the children to other schools; and if it is intended to construct a new school on the site.

Blackpool boys' national school consists of both primary and secondary top divisions. The secondary top division was recognised in 1968 pending the organisation of post-primary facilities in the area. The future of the secondary top division is being considered in the context of the pupil places and the facilities available in the new post-primary school in Knocknaheeny. There will be consultation with local interests before a decision is taken in the matter.
