I have appointed a higher executive officer in the Department of Transport to a new post of assistant principal in my private office in the Department. The purpose of this post is to provide the necessary co-ordination between the private offices in the Department of Transport and the Department of Posts and Telegraphs. Apart from the appointment to this post, no appointments have been made in my Department since my appointment as a member of the Government other than those (a) made as a result of competitions conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners; (b) arising in the normal course of promotions; (c) made to posts listed as scheduled occupations in the First Schedule to the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956.
