Vol. 319 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport Fuel Supplies.

46.

asked the Minister for Energy if he will outline the steps being taken to ensure adequate fuel supplies for the air companies using Shannon Airport.

As far as I am aware reasonably adequate supplies of aviation fuel are at present available to the airline operators using Shannon Airport.

Arrangements for supplies of aircraft fuel at airports are, of course, primarily a matter for the airlines concerned and the oil companies in co-operation with the airport authorities. If serious difficulties are encountered which require action at national level and these are brought to my attention I will, of course, take whatever steps are open to me to assist in the matter.

The Deputy will appreciate that it is desirable that the parties immediately responsible for making the fuel supply arrangements should, in the first instance, make every effort to resolve any local difficulties arising.
