Vol. 321 No. 5

Written Answers. - Socio-Economic Adviser Posts.

376.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when he expects that the selection of persons for appointment to full-time posts of socio-economic advisers will take place; and the in-tender number and location of such advisers.

The last of the courses of preliminary training in socio-economic advisory work, provided in the initial phase of the scheme under EEC Directive 161 has been arranged for early June.

On its completion, arrangements will be made for the selection of a number of advisers who will undergo an intensive training course, leading to the appointment initially of not less than 12 full-time socio-economic advisers. It is intended to locate these 12 advisers in the western counties where the structural problems are most acute.

Subsequently a further 15 full-time advisers will be appointed for location in the remaining counties.
