asked the Minister for Education if he will introduce a scheme to facilitate the purchase and import of items of national and local interest by local museums through the National Museum.

100.
I am not conscious of a general demand for the introduction of the type of scheme referred to in the question. The National Museum pursues a policy of acquiring items of national and local interest from the resources available to it and co-operates with local museums in making appropriate arrangements for their display. I would not have a function in relation to regulations governing the import of items from abroad.
