Vol. 323 No. 3

Written Answers . - Dublin Bay Development .

446.

andMr. M. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Transport if he will make a statement on the proposed development of 94 acres by Dublin Port and Docks Board at Dublin Bay.

: The Dublin Port and Docks Board have applied for a harbour works order to authorise them to reclaim about 94 acres of foreshore on the north side of the River Liffey in the vicinity of the British Rail freight terminal and to construct a quay on the river side of the reclaimed area. It is intended that the area would be used for cargo handling and storage purposes.

Following publication of the statutory notice of the application, objections and representations were submitted to me by many residents and local interests. I am obliged under the Harbours Act, 1946, to have regard to these objections and representations in deciding whether or not to make the proposed order. I have not yet completed my examination of the application.
