Vol. 325 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Kildare Employment Exchanges.

387.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if contingency plans exist to expand facilities at the Maynooth employment exchange, County Kildare to cater for the anticipated increase in unemployment in the area.

The facilities which are provided for unemployed persons by the branch manager of the employment office, Maynooth, in accordance with his contract of employment with my Department, are adequate in present circumstances. If there should be an abnormal increase in the numbers of unemployed persons in the area special arrangements will be made to cater for them.

388.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has contingency plans to provide an employment exchange at Kilcock, County Kildare.

Persons from the Kilcock area register their unemployment at the employment office, Maynooth. As Kilcock is only four miles from Maynooth and as only a small number of persons from the Kilcock area are registered as unemployed, the setting up of an employment exchange in Kilcock would not be justified.
