Vol. 327 No. 2

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

280.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in the installation of a telephone for a person (details supplied) in south west Cork; and when she can now expect to have the telephone installed.

It is expected that service will be provided towards the end of this year; it has not been possible to provide service so far because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention in the area.

281.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Service is dependent on the provision of additional cabling. Because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area, this is unlikely to be provided until about a year's time.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when an application (details supplied) for the transfer of a telephone will be met; and if, in view of the fact that the telephone is for business purposes and essential to the operation of the business, the application will be given priority.

Service is dependent on the provision of cable which, because of the volume of engineering work requiring attention at present, is unlikely to be provided for at least a year.

285.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state further to Parliamentary Question No. 397 of 11 November 1980 to which he replied that applicants in Dodder View Cottages, Ballsbridge, would receive telephone service within the next three months or so, when these families may now expect telephones to be connected.

Arrangements to provide service are in train and it is expected that service will be provided within a month of completion of the necessary agreements.
