Vol. 327 No. 2

Written Answers. - Meath Housing Schemes.

286.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has yet made an allocation of funds to Meath County Council to enable them to commence work on stage 2 of the Trim housing scheme which consists of 24 houses.

287.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has yet made an allocation of finance to Meath County Council to enable them to commence work on the scheme for 44 houses at Navan.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 286 and 287 together. With regard to Question No. 287 I presume the Deputy is referring to the 32 house scheme and the scheme of 12 dwellings for travelling families which Meath County Council are to provide at Navan.

No application for capital finance has been received in my Department for the scheme at Trim or the 32 house scheme at Navan. Under devolved procedures it is a matter for each local authority to plan and initiate any housing scheme of 60 houses or less having regard to the housing needs in their functional area and to the capital resources available.

My Department have allocated a total of £223,500 to the council in respect of the scheme for travelling families.
