Written Answers. - Inner City Employment.

asked the Minister for Labour (a) the number of jobs provided for people on the special inner-city register in the last year; (b) the number on the register at present; and (c) if he will give details of the incentives offered to employers under the scheme.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of people employed under the Dublin inner-city employment programme which came into operation in January 1981.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 28 and 30 together.

(a) Since the Dublin inner city employment programme came into operation in January 1981 a total number of one hundred and sixty persons (160) have been placed in employment under the programme.

(b) There are 3,578 persons on the Dublin inner city register at present.

(c) The incentives offered to employers are weekly premiums in respect of each eligible employee recruited into full-time employment. The premiums are payable for up to 26 weeks and amount to £30 per week for each eligible worker who was 18 years or over at the time of recruitment and £20 per week for each eligible worker who was under 18 years at the time of recruitment.
