In view of the commitment to the Western Parkway route, which is in the same general area, there is no immediate prospect of road grants being made available for the construction of the road referred to by the Deputy and the associated interchange at Newlands Cross, the cost of which is estimated at over £6.5 millions. I am advised, however, that substantial relief would be afforded to the general area by improvements to the existing Lucan—Clondalkin Road in association with the construction of the section of the Western Parkway from the Naas Road to the Lucan Road and construction of a new road linking existing Lucan—Clondalkin road with this new section of the Western Parkway.
