asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if, in view of the indiscriminate use of plastic bullets by the RUC and British forces in the Six Counties and the number of fatal and serious injuries sustained in many cases by innocent members of the public, he will make representations in the strongest possible terms to the British authorities to have the use of such weapons banned.

I have made known to the British authorities on a number of occasions and at the highest level the Government's anxiety about the number of fatalities and serious injuries in Northern Ireland which have resulted from the use of plastic bullets there.
