Vol. 333 No. 5

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

As the house in this case is a rented county council cottage, as a previous grant was paid in 1978 and as fire damage was involved in the present application there are certain aspects of it that have to be clarified with Kerry County Council. In this respect the Department have written to the council but a reply is still awaited. A decision on his eligibility for a grant will be given to the applicant when the necessary information is received from the council.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. Payment of the first instalment of the subsidy will not arise until at least six months have elapsed from the date of execution of the mortgage.
