Vol. 333 No. 8

Written Answers. - Medical Equipment.

851.

asked the Minister for Health if he will specify the items of medical equipment for use in hospitals costing more than £5,000 each of which has been sanctioned for purchase by his Department in each of the last five years; if he will specify the hospital for which each item was approved; the cost of each such item; the total annual cost of such equipment for each year; and the proportion it represented of total expenditure on hospital services.

The information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could be compiled only by the expenditure of an inordinate amount of staff time. It may be that the Deputy has a special interest in a particular hospital. If so, and if the Deputy communicates with me, I will supply him with information he may require about items of medical equipment sanctioned for that hospital.
