Written Answers. - Garda Pay.

Separate figures of earnings are not available in respect of the detective branch of the force. On the basis of the most recent available figures for all members, the average pay per annum, including overtime (where applicable) and allowances, for each rank of the Garda Síochána is calculated as follows:
£ |
|
Garda |
13,000 |
Sergeant |
15,400 |
Inspector |
16,900 |
Superintendent |
16,400 |
Chief superintendent |
18,800 |
Assistant Commissioner (including surgeon) |
22,600 |
Deputy Commissioner |
23,300 |
Commissioner |
28,700 |
The figures have been rounded to the nearest £100. They are based on salary rates at present applicable and on 1981 overtime earnings (actual earnings for the first nine months of that year and estimated earnings for the last three months).
