Written Answers. - Inchicore (Dublin) National School.

813.

asked the Minister for Education if it will now be possible to approve a walking principal for St. Michael's Christian Brothers School, Inchicore, Dublin, in view of the agreement between Deputy Haughey prior to his nomination as Taoiseach and Deputy Tony Gregory-Independent, and of the fact that this school is now a deprived inner city school; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The question of the staffing of a particular national school is a matter for discussion with the Board of Management of the school in the first instance. I am not in a position to make a statement as requested pending completion of an examination of the staffing situation of the school.

814.

asked the Minister for Education if in view of the agreement between Deputy Haughey prior to his nomination as Taoiseach and Deputy Tony Gregory-Independent, it will now be possible to provide a caretaker at St. Michael's Christian Brothers School, Inchicore, Dublin, which is now a deprived inner city school; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

St. Michael's Christian Brothers' School, Inchicore, Dublin, does not qualify for the employment of a caretaker at the expense of the Department of Education in accordance with existing regulations.

815.

asked the Minister for Education if he has yet received a report from the Office of Public Works regarding the application for a grant for maintenance work done or proposed to be done at St. Michael's Christian Brothers School, Inchicore, Dublin; if so, when he will approve the grant; and the amount.

A range of works of a repair and improvement nature have been proposed at St. Michael's Christian Brothers School, Inchicore, County Dublin. A portion of these works arises from storm damage and is covered by insurance. A grant has already been sanctioned on 31 March 1982 in respect of another portion. The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to report and recommend on the remaining works and their report is expected at an early date at which stage the question of a grant in respect of these works can be considered.
