As indicated in the reply to Question No. 16 of 27 January 1982, the requisitioning of services for official Garda purposes is a matter for the Minister for Justice. However, in view of the involvement of the Irish Water Safety Association in the matter, I have been keeping in touch with developments. I am now informed that the association's proposals are at an advanced stage and a report will be submitted to me as soon as possible.
While I am not directly concerned, I will be prepared to consider such report in consultation with the Minister for Justice.
