asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money being allocated to each corporation, county council and urban council in respect of expenditure on environmental schemes in 1982.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount allocated to each local authority under the environmental improvement scheme, 1982.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 735 and 736 together.

A sum of £4.465 million has been allocated by my Department to local authorities for environmental schemes in 1982.

The amounts allocated to each local authority are as follows:—

Notes

1. Allocations in the case of a county (except Dublin) include any boroughs or urban districts in it.

2. Last October, a sum of £2 million was allocated to local authorities for environmental works in the period October 1981 to March 1982.

3. A further sum of £2.5 million is provided for in the budget to enable the number of men employed by Dublin Corporation on environmental works to be increased to at least 500 in the current year.
