asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the financial allocations made to local authorities for 1979, 1980 and 1981.

Allocations to local authorities are made in respect of capital for (i) local authority housing, (ii) house purchase, low-rise mortgage and reconstruction loans and supplementary grants and (iii) water and sewerage schemes. Allocations are also made in respect of grants for (i) road works, (ii) environmental works and (iii) the local improvements scheme.

The following tabular statement sets out the allocations to local authorities for 1979, 1980 and 1981:
