asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a business firm (details supplied) in Dublin 4 will receive a second telephone line as their present line is totally inadequate.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will confirm that a person (details supplied) in Sandymount, Dublin is on the priority list for a telephone; and, if so, when he will receive a telephone service, taking into account the fact that there is already a connection to his home.

The person named is not on a priority list. A survey is being carried out to ascertain if the cable pair which served the flat previously is still available. The applicant will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for telephones in the Growtown/Ratoath area, County Meath; the nature of the further engineering work, involving cabling, which has to be carried out to provide service; the approximate cost of the work; and when it will be carried out.

There are some 47 applications bearing Growtown/Ratoath addresses. Cabling and cable distribution work is expected to be carried out within the next year or so. The cost is not readily available.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for telephones in the Baltrasna area of Ashbourne, County Meath; the nature of the further engineering work, involving cabling, which has to be carried out to provide service; the approximate cost of the work; and when it will be carried out.

There are 11 applications bearing Baltrasna addresses. Cabling and cable distribution work is expected to be carried out within about a year. The cost is not readily available.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Cabinteely, County Dublin as the application was made over two years ago.

It has not been possible to provide service for this applicant so far because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Dublin area. It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the telephone for a person (details supplied) in Lucan, County Dublin, is faulty; and if he will make arrangements to have it repaired as quickly as possible.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in repairing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in Lucan, County Dublin; and if he will now arrange to have the telephone repaired without further delay.

The fault, which was in the underground cable, has been repaired. Because of the number of such faults, which require attention by specially trained staff, I regret that there has been delay in repairing them.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone as the connection fee was paid in January for a person (details supplied) in Inchicore, Dublin 8; and when the telephone will be installed and connected.

It has not been possible to meet this application so far because of a fault condition which came to light at the installation stage. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 as she paid the installation fee last December.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, it is proposed to take Questions Nos. 763 and 774 together.

It has not been possible to provide service for the person named so far because of a fault condition which came to light at the installation stage. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the fact that a telephone line already exists in a house (details supplied) in Clondalkin, County Dublin he will now provide service for the new tenant.

It has not been possible in the time available to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information about the application, e.g. when and where it was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the urgent need of a company (details supplied) in Dublin 2 for a telephone; if he is further aware that telephones were installed about eight weeks ago but have not yet been connected; and, if in view of the fact that this is holding up employment, he will now give top priority to the connection of these telephones; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has not been possible to meet this application so far because of a fault condition which came to light at the installation stage. Priority attention is being accorded and it is expected that service will be provided within a month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Clondalkin, County Dublin has been waiting five years for a telephone; the reason for the delay in supplying the telephone; when the telephone will be supplied; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has not been possible to provide service for the person named so far because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Dublin area. It is expected that a service will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a free rental telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; who is an invalid.

It is expected that telephone service will be provided within about six months. This Department have not been informed that the applicant qualifies for a rental free telephone; the question of free rental is a matter for the Minister for Social Welfare.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Finglas, Dublin 11 who applied three years ago and who requires a telephone on medical grounds.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Inchicore, Dublin 8 paid for his telephone in January and that the telephone, although installed, has still not been connected; when the telephone will be connected; the reason for the delay; and if he will give priority to the connection of this telephone.

I am aware of the application. It has not been possible to meet it so far because of a fault condition which came to light at the installation stage. Priority attention is being accorded and it is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the facts of a case (details supplied) in Inchicore, Dublin 8 he will now grant priority to the telephone applicant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Service will be provided as soon as that can possibly be done but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Sandymount, Dublin 4 was not provided with a telephone service within the time specified in the reply to parliamentary question No. 653 of 28 April 1982; and the reason for this.

Service is in course of provision. Regrettably the work of repairing a fault on the cable pair took longer than was expected when the previous question was answered.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will confirm that a person (details supplied) in Clontarf, Dublin has applied for a transfer of telephone service; and when this application will be met.

It is confirmed that an application has been received from the person named. It will be met within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when two public telephones will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as the application was made in November 1980.

Two coin box telephones will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a proper telephone service will be provided in Thomas Street employment exchange, Dublin.

Additional telephone lines will be provided as soon as possible after alterations to the premises have been completed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Cork, who is a semi-invalid living alone.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is expected that the telephone which was installed for a person (details supplied) in Artane, Dublin 5, last December will be connected.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason his Department have failed to repair the telephone of a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and the reason the telephone is continuously out of order.

Telephone service at Dunmore has been defective on occasions because of problems with the cable linking Dunmore and Tuam. A number of sections of this cable have been replaced recently and service should now be improved. A new cable will be provided on the route within the next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone kiosks will be provided in the following housing estates in the Killarney area of County Kerry: (i) Ballyspillane; (ii) Pinewood and (iii) Caolgreen Park.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether the automation of the telephone system in Glengarriff, County Cork, has been postponed; if so, why; and when it is now expected that automation will take place.

Automatic service was provided in Glengarriff on 26 May 1982 as planned.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a Garda officer (details supplied) in County Cork who has been on the waiting list for a telephone for a considerable period will have a telephone installed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be transferred for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.
