Vol. 335 No. 4

Written Answers. - Navan Housing.

114.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will agree to the request of Navan Urban Council that the price under the tenant purchase scheme for houses at St. Benildus Villas, Navan, County Meath, be reduced because their construction was below an adequate standard.

The tenant purchase scheme is a national scheme and has uniform application throughout the country. It would not, therefore, be appropriate for me to allow a departure from its terms in any particular instance. There is a statutory obligation on local authorities to put houses into good structural condition before being sold to tenants.
